The Bureau of Production is a bureau of the Parliament of Milk and Honey. It sets the quarterly production targets of the commons and inspects the quality of the goods made to them. It does not operate industries, and its targets are given to the industrial bureaus, municipal corporations and private firms that make the goods. It was established in 1976 as the Bureau of Industrial Coordination, and absorbed the Bureau of Production Surveillance of the Ministry of Industry in 2031.
Production targets are adjusted every quarter from the days of stock published by the Bureau of Economic Forecasting. This system is reflexive, and adapts to the stock levels by increasing or decreasing allocation depending on inventories, though production cannot be reduced by more than a fixed share in a single quarter. Each region is set its own target. The bureau sends about 2,400 targets a quarter to the major organisations of the bureau system, and many more to municipal corporations through its regional offices.
The bureau also keeps the common specifications that Vekllei factories almost exclusively work to, and inspects goods against them. A product that fails inspection is withdrawn from the shelves and recorded against the firm’s waste.
