The Leviathan Vast Shipbuilding Corporation (commonly known as Leviathan) is a naval shipbuilder owned by the government of the Commonwealth. It is the second-largest shipbuilder in the country, and builds the battleships, battlecruisers and other capital ships of the Armed Forces.
It operates adjacent to but independently from Argo Meridian, and is centralised around two large yards in Oslola and Kairi rather than devolved among many republics. Its headquarters and largest yard are on the fortified island of Columbo, beside Naval Station Oslola, which has been a naval fortress since the 15th century. The Columbo yard builds the cruiser family of the Universal Hull System, including the Relentless class of battlecruiser and the ice-strengthened icebreaker cruisers of the Arctic. Its Kairi yard is outside Conquerabia and takes most of its armour plate from the Kairi steel industry. It built the Federal-class battleship Commonwealth, the largest warship in the country, which is based at Naval Station Kairi.
Both yards are heavily automated, and its 17,000 staff launch only three or four ships a year, most of them several years in construction. It is the preferred contractor of the Maritime Service for capital and specialised large ships, and often receives engineering contracts before other yards.
It trades on the Commsec as LVS, and is the fourth largest naval shipbuilder in the world by tonnage.
