Votrietey Electrics S.c.L. is a photo-electric computer manufacturer in the Commonwealth, based in the republic of Barbados. It is the largest personal computer manufacturer in the country, and the second-largest computer manufacturer overall after National Machines. Unlike National Machines, which is generally more industrial and research focused, Votrietey has a consumer focus, and most Commonwealth people first use a computer on one of its terminals.

Personal computers as they are known refer to machines in commercial or individual use rather than for industrial or research purposes. Since all photo-electric computers need large processing systems and take up a lot of space, computing remains a centralised affair, and people generally use a computer through a terminal networked to a master computer somewhere else. Votrietey sells master computer systems that can be easily set up in low-technology settings like schools, libraries and network joints, together with the terminals and simple software that let ordinary people log on to the Commonwealth National Intranet. It is also the main supplier of classroom terminals to the Bureau of Schools.

Its terminals use calligraphic displays and the VEKSCOPE character encoding, and are connected to the National Bulletin System and the rest of the Public Intranet. Votrietey also has a commercial imaging service for holographic memory, mostly for the DataPlex Photovolumes, which store the images that vector displays cannot show.

Votrietey was founded in Indian Bridge in 2038, and is still headquartered there. Although it is a private corporation, it is governed by a board made up of several of the country’s senior hardware engineers, as well as research scientists, academics and members of National Machines. Today it has works in Barbados, Kairi and Oslola, and a software office in Nassau.
