The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a traditional Islamic republic on the northwestern subcontinent, a middle power with outsized regional influence relative to its relative wealth. Its relationship with Britain has grown closer as Anglo-Indian relations have deteriorated, which Pakistan has leveraged into new military equipment and some diplomatic support regarding the Bengal seperatist issue. The military dominates politics in the familiar subcontinental fashion, cycling through civilian governments with political crises as normal procedure.
Pakistan exercises substantial influence over Afghanistan through religious networks and money, and regards Afghan stability as an extension of its own security. Mehran regards Afghanistan as a de facto client state of Pakistan. The state sponsorship of Bengali separatist movements within India is an open secret and sustains a prolonged diplomatic feud with India that has carried on for over a century now.
