The Commonwealth Parliament of Bread and Roses is a ministerial parliament of the Commonwealth, governing households, citizenship and civic life on industrial principles. It legislates and administers family care, citizenship and settlement, voluntary service and religious freedom across the Commonwealth.
Broadly, the responsibilities of the Parliament of Bread and Roses include:
- Care of children, the elderly and the disabled, and exemptions for those who look after them.
- The Civil Register of births, deaths, marriages and names.
- Citizenship, residence and the settlement of new arrivals.
- The register of societies and the raising of Work Action Groups.
- Religious freedom and the registration of religious bodies.
Care for families is the work of the Bureau of Families. In the commons, it does not distribute payments and so support is arranged through services, and care for children under twelve and severely disabled adults is recognised as a formal occupation. Citizenship and settlement are decided by the Bureau of Citizenship, and religious bodies are registered by the Bureau of Religion.
Between 1965 and 2065, about 8 million immigrants settled in the Commonwealth, many of them under the Century Society Laws, which have also been called the “Aliyah for anarchists.” Work Action Groups are often raised and equipped by the parliament, although they are strictly participatory and organised locally, and being “on the WAG” can benefit social standing and opportunities for employment.
