The Bureau of Statistics (COMSTAT) is a bureau of the Ministry of Accounts. It conducts the Commonwealth Census and publishes statistics on the people, economy and geography of the Commonwealth. It is also responsible for the national accounts, which it compiles with the Institute for Economics Research at the Treasury.
Since residents of the commons do not usually handle money, the bureau lacks the household savings and standing debt that conventional economics looks for. Their contribution is instead valued in the accounts at the shadow wage, which is never paid, and in 2063 the commons finished the year β¦90 billion in debt to the state.
The census is held under the Commonwealth Census Act of 2044, and its figures are used by the Commonwealth Electoral Commission to set electorates and apportionments. The bureau was established in 1951, and its headquarters are in Oslola.
