The Bureau of Meteorology is responsible for weather forecasting and storm warnings in the Commonwealth, and for its climate records. It is part of the Ministry of Landscape, and was established in 1951 with its headquarters at the Commonwealth Weather Centre in Oslola.
The country runs from the Arctic republics of Kala and Hetland to the Caribbean, and so the bureau has a weather station in every republic. On many smaller islands it is the only federal office besides the survey office of the ministry, and the ministry is often the largest Commonwealth presence there for that reason.
Warnings of hurricanes, tidal waves and eruptions go to the Civil Defence Service. Since many republics are situated on active volcanic systems, the bureau’s seismographs are part of the Seismic Intelligence System, and volcanic warnings are issued with the Volcanic Region Hazards Establishment of the LSRE.
