The Bureau of Press and News Media is a bureau of the Ministry of Culture. It establishes standards for the press in the Commonwealth, and administers the government gazettes and the national news wire. Its work is governed by the Commonwealth Press Act of 2061, which establishes media protections and access limitations.
Freedom of the press and other media is protected under the Civil Rights, and the bureau has no ability to dictate or censor content. Because the commons encourages the proliferation of newspapers and magazines, a lot of the bureau’s work is with small municipal papers, many of them also entered in the register of the Bureau of Voluntary Service. Journalists are generally trained at the Atlantic College of Journalism, one of the specialist schools attached to Atlantic College in Oslola. The bureau was established in 1966.
