Boreal Division is a sovereign formation of the Commonwealth Armed Forces that protects the North Sea approaches, seated at Fortress Demon with an auxiliary air station at Hetland. The Volcanic Rifles and the Volcanic Patrol Section, both resident here, were regionalised away from the Volcanic Division under the naval restructure in the 2040s. Its bases in Hetland are in close proximity to the United Kingdom, with which the Commonwealth has generally warm relations.

The division remains administratively distinct and self-sufficient in its own right despite its proximity to Oslola, and maintains its own small coastal picket flotilla alongside the Volcanic Patrol Section.
