The Commonwealth Medical Association is a professional association that represents doctors, nurses and allied health workers in the Commonwealth. It is independent of the Parliament of Health and Government, and keeps the roll of practitioners for the professional elections to the parliament.
Physicians in republic hospitals are licensed practitioners employed by the hospital, and vote in the professional elections as practitioners. Most practitioners belong to the association, and it holds an annual meeting each March in Kairi. Its weekly journal, the Atlantic Medical Gazette, is the oldest medical journal in the country.
