The Supply Establishment administers doctrine, equipment and procurement for logistics, medical support and maintenance in the Commonwealth Armed Forces, across every Division. Because each Division is designed to transport, equip, train and sustain itself at levied strength without reinforcement, every regiment has a Supply Company of its own. Command of Supply-manned formations rests with their parent Division, not with the Establishment.
Rations, uniforms and medical supplies are procured for it by the Federal Materiel Establishment, and arms and ammunition by the Federal Ordnance Establishment, both under the Defence Industrial Establishment. In peacetime their goods are moved by the Bureau of Supply. The Establishment’s own equipment is mostly aircraft, lorries, landing ships and auxiliaries.
