The Fires Establishment administers doctrine, equipment and procurement for the artillery, missiles, warships and strike aircraft of the Commonwealth Armed Forces, across every Division. These include field and naval guns, air and coastal defence, and the strategic deterrent, which is a Territorial matter under the Basic Laws. Command of Fires-manned formations rests with their parent Division, not with the Establishment.
Every regiment of the Territorial Service and the Levy has a Fires Company of its own, and there are also five Cannons Regiments for garrison duty in the republics and with the militia. The heaviest guns in its charge are the six 406 mm guns of the Federal-class battleship, which is used for fire support in amphibious operations. Most of its aircraft are built by Government Aircraft Factories, the fourth largest aircraft manufacturer in the world.
