The Bureau of Materials and Supply is part of the Parliament of Milk and Honey.
The Bureau of Materials & Supply is a bureau of the Parliament of Milk and Honey that allocates raw materials across the Commonwealth without market prices to guide distribution. The bureau tracks material flows, anticipates resource needs and distributes inputs to where they can be used productively β a task that would be handled by price signals in a conventional economy.
The geography makes this difficult. Steel produced in one republic may be needed for shipbuilding in another, agricultural products from remote islands must reach industrial centres thousands of kilometres away, and mining operations in Kala supply manufacturers in Oslola across vast ocean distances. The bureau coordinates these movements across 83 republics of varying size and development, which involves tracking not just primary extraction but also secondary materials from recycling, seasonal production variation and complex interdependencies between industries.
Without profit signals to guide allocation, the bureau relies on planning methods that balance productive efficiency with demand and sustainability. Its decisions are frequently contested β republics that feel their material needs have been deprioritised have little recourse beyond petition, and the bureau’s assessments of “productive use” are subjective by nature.
