The Avro Commando Cannon Armoured Car is a four-wheeled armoured fighting vehicle that provides direct fire support for rifle battalions across the Armed Forces. Introduced in 2056, the Commando CAC serves as the standard fire support vehicle for the Territorial Services, operating alongside its unarmed APC variant in mechanised infantry formations.

The vehicle derives from Avro’s licensed production of the Cadillac Gage Commando, modified for the expeditionary character of the Vekllei Territorial Services. The monocoque armoured hull provides protection against small arms fire and shell fragments while maintaining the amphibious capability and high road speed required for deployment and defensive manoeuvres across Vekllei’s island republics.

Armament consists of a turret-mounted 20mm autocannon with coaxial machine gun, supplemented by a rear-mounted machine gun operated from within the personnel compartment. Smoke grenade launchers provide screening capability. The turret configuration allows engagement of ground and low-altitude aerial targets.

Interior layout accommodates a driver, commander, gunner and loader in the forward section, with space for six infantry in the rear compartment. Personnel enter through side doors and a rear ramp. Vision blocks and periscopes provide situational awareness when buttoned down.

Most rifle battalions operate 3-4 Commandos in their support sections, typically deployed alongside a larger number of unarmed APC variants. The illustration depicts Section 2 from the 44th Rifles Battalion, 15th Volcanic Rifles Regiment, based at AS Scatsta in Hetland. Production occurs at Avro’s Pitera facility in Karu alongside the PAC police variant, with approximately 12-15 CAC units manufactured annually to maintain the fleet across all territorial regiments.
